Daily Devotional #1,496

I looked at some of my unfinished model airplanes and I decided that I was just going to sit down and work on them for a while. I had stopped because I got to a point where I was going to have to do some very small and precise masking of parts before I could paint. I had some special tape that was designed for plastic models, and I got out my best tweezers and put on my magnifying glasses and went to work. It was a bit tedious but rewarding to see the spaces that were not supposed to be painted begin to be covered with strips of tape. I found out that I enjoyed it. But as I was working on these small parts with my “instruments” I was suddenly reminded of Psalm 139. In it, the Psalmist David reminds us that you and I are put together by God himself. He makes all the delicate, inner parts of our body and knits us together in our mother’s womb. David thanks God for making each one of us so wonderfully complex and the workmanship that is just marvelous! I thought about the time and effort it took me to do these little things on a toy. And then to think that God has his hand in the making of each one of us. Me, I care about how my airplane is going to come out in the end…and I’m willing to do the work that will make it just the way I want it. And I love to think of God taking the time and care to shape us to be just like he wants us. That means that every one of us is special. And every one of us has been designed for a purpose in this life. You are not an accident…you are someone special. You are designed and built just like the maker wanted you and for each one of us we can say “your workmanship is marvelous”! So, know that God has put you together and put you in this world for a purpose. You and your life have meaning. And the God who did all that has promised that he will be with you every step of the journey you will make on this earth.

Here’s our Bible verse for today…

Psalms 139:13-16 NLT You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mother’s womb. (14) Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex! Your workmanship is marvelous—how well I know it. (15) You watched me as I was being formed in utter seclusion, as I was woven together in the dark of the womb. (16) You saw me before I was born. Every day of my life was recorded in your book. Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed.

Remember I’m praying for you,
Pastor Joe
