I love the story of the guy who waited up for his son to come home one Saturday night and the young man came stumbling in very drunk. The man was a follower of this Jesus of the Bible and the son expected that Dad would really come down on him. The Dad got up and made sure his son was ok and he looked up to heaven and said “God, it looks like you have a problem!” and left. I like the idea of the story that either you have a problem you need to solve or it is God who takes the problem and is in charge of it. I know that there are things we need to do in life, but we need to remember that God is…well, God. And the reality is that you are not. We spend so much of our time and effort and sacrifice so much of our joy by trying to do God’s work for him, instead of trusting in him. Part of our struggle is that we forget Mark 10:27… “With men it is impossible, not so with God. With God all things are possible.” The God of the Bible is a the one who makes everything possible. So let God do the heavy lifting and be your strong protector. You just trust him with all your heart and let him make your problem his problem and he will be there to help you. Here’s our Bible verse for today…
Psalms 28:7 NLT The LORD is my strength and shield. I trust him with all my heart. He helps me, and my heart is filled with joy. I burst out in songs of thanksgiving.
