Daily Devotional #1,776

I still remember seeing him on TV, in magazines and even his voice on the radio. He wore a broad “campaign  hat”, no shirt and blue jeans. He had a stern look, and he told me time and time again “Only you can prevent  forest fires!” I used to think about that responsibility…I’m the only one, just a kid, who can prevent forest fires.  Yep, and we called him Smokey the Bear. OK, that’s not what that message really meant. But how many times  in our lives do we think that it all depends on us. If I can’t get this done…life will all fall apart. Satan will  come at us and make us believe that we are the only ones who do anything, because we are the only one who  can do those things. As a follower of this Jesus of the Bible, there are a lot of promises that have been given to  you. Often, they were said to others at the time they were recorded, but what good God promises, he promises  for all his children. So often we think that we must carry all the worries and burdens and trials of the world on  our shoulders. But God tells us in his Bible that he started carrying us before we were born! And he says to us  that he will keep on doing that throughout our lifetime. He is the one who made us, and he is the one who will  care for you and me. You don’t have to carry the burdens of life…he says he will carry us along and save us.  No one else can do that, but the one who loves you the most promises that all of life is not your responsibility.  Let God be God…and you follow him and enjoy him. But…do make sure those campfires are totally out!  Here's our Bible verse for today…

Isaiah 46:3-5 NLT “Yes, I carried you before you were born. (4) I will be your God throughout your  lifetime—until your hair is white with age. I made you, and I will care for you. I will carry you along and save  you. (5) “To whom will you compare me? Who is my equal?
Remember I’m praying for you!
With love, PJ
