Daily Devotional #1,779

Joe always went to his local barber for a monthly shave and haircut. But one day the barber was ill. So, the  barber’s wife, Grace, took over. Joe noticed over subsequent weeks that his hair was not growing. The barber,  an evangelical Christian, explained the mystery. “When you’re shaved by Grace,” he said, “you’re once shaved,  always shaved.” I know, that’s a groaner! But it is a reminder that people are saved from their sins not by any  works that they have done…it is by grace. Grace, what is it? Well, if you are stopped by a police officer  because you were speeding, and he writes you a ticket…that’s judgement. But imagine that same officer  stopping you because you were speeding, and he informs you that he has to write a ticket for this breaking of  the law. Your shoulders sag but he tells you that he is going to put not your name on that ticket for your  infraction, but he will put his name on it…and he will pay the fine. And then he opens up his wallet and says  “I’m going to give you all that I have on top of that”. That’s the idea behind grace. This Jesus of the Bible who  died for the sins of everyone who ever has or ever will live told us that those who have accepted his gift of  grace are his sheep and they listen to his voice. He knows them and they follow him. And they receive eternal  life and will never perish. And no one can snatch them away from him. And no one can snatch them from the  Father’s hand. That’s the best news ever. So, keep following this Jesus and remember that even when you  make mistakes, even big ones, God is waiting for you to come him and experience his forgiveness and continue  on with him by your side on this earthly journey. Just keep listening to his voice and follow him today. Here’s  our Bible verse for today…

John 10:27-29 NLT My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. (28) I give them eternal  life, and they will never perish. No one can snatch them away from me, (29) for my Father has given them to  me, and he is more powerful than anyone else. No one can snatch them from the Father’s hand.
Remember I’m praying for you!
With love, PJ
