Daily Devotional #1,800

A precious gift that I have hanging in my office at church is a print of the USS Hornet launching B-25 bombers  on Dolittle’s Raid on Japan in 1942. On of the airmen on that raid was Jacob Deshazer and his signature is at  the bottom of that picture. Deshazer’s plane crashed after the raid and he was captured and endured nearly 3 ½  years of captivity that included starvation, endless labor and punishing beatings. Deshazer was about to give up  until one night he prayed and told God that if he spared him, that he would serve him any way that God wanted  for the rest of his life. He was spared and came back to the United States and remembered the promise he made  to God. After schooling to train him as a missionary, Deshazer struggled as to what the next step was. And  even with all the punishment that he received at the hands of his Japanese captors, he knew that God wanted  him to return to Japan to share this good news of love and forgiveness that God was offering in Jesus Christ. In  the midst of his ministry there, he got to know another airman, Mitsuo Fuchida. Fuchida had been the Japanese  air commander at the attack on Pearl Harbor. The two former enemies built a friendship and in time Fuchida  gave his life to Christ as well. And God put a hunger in his heart to share this love and forgiveness in Christ  that he had found. And in time he became known as the Japanese “Billy Graham”. God is in the business of  doing the impossible. Bringing forgiveness and love where there has been only hate and pain. So, as you face  trials and obstacles in your life, remember that our God is not limited by anything. And there is an ocean of  God’s love available…there is plenty for everyone. With us, so many things seem impossible. But that is not  the case with God. With God…all things are possible. Let God lead you today and look for what seems  impossible…become reality. Here’s our Bible verse today…

Mark 10:26-27 NLT The disciples were astounded. “Then who in the world can be saved?” they  asked. (27) Jesus looked at them intently and said, “Humanly speaking, it is impossible. But not with God.  Everything is possible with God.”
Remember I’m praying for you!
With love, PJ
