Today is called “Good Friday”, it is the day that Jesus died on the cross. What in the world made folks call this day Good Friday? I ran across a “BC” Good Friday comic strip…it went like this…
“I hate the term ‘Good Friday’”
“Why?”
“My Lord was hanged on a tree that day.”
“If you were going to be hanged on that day, and he volunteered to take your place, how would you feel?” “Good”
“Have a nice day.”
Jesus took my place…he took your place. We deserved to be there, but he went for us. He died a horrible death on a cross for me and you to pay for our sins and open the door to heaven and eternal life for anyone who wants it. And that makes it a Good Day for us all. That is love in action. Make sure you say “thank you” today. Here’s our Bible verse for today…
1 Peter 2:24 NLT He personally carried our sins in his body on the cross so that we can be dead to sin and live for what is right. By his wounds you are healed.
