The Sunday School class had all been given plastic Easter Eggs and were told to come back on Easter Sunday with something in them that represented Easter. The kids returned and one by one they brought their eggs to the teacher, and she opened them and showed them some toy or object that each thought represented Easter. The kids clapped for each one when she showed them what was inside. The last egg to be brought forward was from Bobby and he was the quiet one and the kids thought that he was a bit “slower” than the rest of them. He handed his egg to the teacher, and she opened it…and there was nothing in it. The kids laughed and the teacher realized that Bobby had not remembered to put anything in his egg. Bobby heard the laughter and looked to the teacher and asked, “Why are they laughing?” She gently said, “Well, Bobby you were supposed to put something about Easter in your egg and yours is empty.” Bobby wasn’t phased by all this and simply said “Sure it’s empty, because the tomb was empty because Jesus rose from the grave.” The room went silent, and the teacher looked proudly at this one little boy who really understood Easter. The tomb is empty. Jesus is alive. Death and sin have been beaten by his death and resurrection. Happy Easter to you all…and happy forever! Here’s our Bible verse for today…
John 20:8-9 NLT Then the disciple who had reached the tomb first also went in, and he saw and believed— (9) for until then they still hadn’t understood the Scriptures that said Jesus must rise from the dead.
Remember I’m praying for you!
