Daily Devotional #1,834

A lady told about a woman who walked into the elevator tossing her keys up in the air and catching them. After  one too many tosses, she dropped the keys, and she said we watched as they disappeared into the crack between  the open doors and the floor. I felt terrible for her. Or I did until she cried, "Oh no! Not again!" We are  sometimes slow learners! We do that in lots of areas of our lives…we keep making the same mistakes over and  over again. That lady in the elevator should have already learned that it was not a good thing to throw up her  keys in a place where they can be lost big time! But how often do we find ourselves making the same mistakes  and choosing the wrong choices in our lives? The Apostle Paul addressed this problem with his young associate  Timothy. He told him to gently instruct those who just don’t get the truth…like keys falling into the elevator  shaft! We either think we are going to get a different outcome to our actions or we give into the temptation to  do those things that are dangerous to us and especially our souls and relationship to God. We need to learn the  truth about life and living and as Paul says, “come to our senses and escape the devil’s trap. If we let him, Satan  will worm his way into our hearts so to captivate us to do whatever he wants us to. So don’t keep paying the  price of pain and estrangement from God with a sin or action. Let God and his Word teach you what is right  and smart and lead you in another direction. Here’s our Bible verse for today…

2 Timothy 2:25-26 NLT Gently instruct those who oppose the truth. Perhaps God will change those people’s  hearts, and they will learn the truth. (26) Then they will come to their senses and escape from the devil’s trap.  For they have been held captive by him to do whatever he wants.
Remember I’m praying for you!
With love, PJ
