Daily Devotional #1,838

I remember being in high school and having a school locker. My locker was so far away from the sports  dressing rooms that I just ended up carting all my books and binder with me all day long. I remembered that I  had not been to my locker in so many months that when it came time to turn in my lock, I couldn’t remember  the combination. I recalled thinking “Here I am a graduating senior and before I can graduate, I have to turn in  my combination lock, and I have no idea how get it open. There was no way to get to what was in my locker. I  thought about that locked door to that crummy locker and how it stood between me and freedom. Jesus talked  about a door that each one of us has that seems to be locked, but from the other side. He said that he stands at  the door of our lives and throughout our journey on this earth he is knocking at that door. We either answer it  and invite him into our lives we are living now or we leave him on the outside, away from us forever. He tells  us that if we hear his voice and open the door, he will come in and uses the illustration of sitting down and  eating together. And we will do it as friends. I remember how frustrating it was to not get that locker door open, because time was running out. And I wonder if God feels kind of like that. Knocking on the door of our  lives, knowing that if we don’t answer that door, time will run out. God really loves you and me. Listen for his  voice, calling you and me to just open that door of our lives filled with hopes and dreams and hunger for  someone who will love us completely and unconditionally. The lock is on the our side of the door. All we need  to do is to open it from our side and invite this Jesus of the Bible into our present life now and then he will take  us into a life we have not yet experienced and then to our real home that we have not yet been. Go answer the  door, there is someone who is looking for you! Here’s our Bible verse for today…

Revelation 3:20 NLT “Look! I stand at the door and knock. If you hear my voice and open the door, I will come  in, and we will share a meal together as friends.
Remember I’m praying for you!
With love, PJ
