Daily Devotional #1,841

I just got back from a trip to east Texas. That’s where I was born. I got to go to the high school where my Dad  coached and taught back when the second half of the 20th century was just starting. My son and I got a tour of  the high school and as we were getting in the car to head back to where we were staying, I noticed an old two story white house about a half a block away. I looked at it and it seemed so familiar and yet I had no memory of  ever being in this little Texas town, much less this particular house. And yet I knew this place. And then it  came to me…this was the house that my parents had lived in when they were in this small town. It was a good sized house, but it had been separated into two equal halves that created two living spaces. My Mom had told  me so many stories about this place and how they had half a house to live in and brought me home to after I was  born. And as I stared at this old building, realizing that this is where my life had begun, it hit me that this is  where my Mom began her journey of over 70 years as a mother. It was there that my parents had brought me  from the hospital and I imagined my Mom carrying me into this place that she had made a home for us and from  that point on, she would be known to those who loved her most as “Mom”. It is Mother’s Day, and I miss  having my Mom here, but as Proverbs 31 states… “Her children stand and bless her. Her husband praises her:  ‘There are many virtuous and capable women in the world, but you surpass them all!’” That’s how we felt and  still feel about our Mom and so Happy Heavenly Mother’s Day…Mom. And to all of you Moms who carried us to that first place we would live called “home” …thank you, and Happy Mother’s Day to each one of you.  Here’s our Bible verse for today…

Proverbs 31:28-29 NLT Her children stand and bless her. Her husband praises her: (29) “There are many  virtuous and capable women in the world, but you surpass them all!”
Remember I’m praying for you!
With love, PJ
