Daily Devotional #1,847

When I was a kid, I rode the bus to my grammar school. Every day I would go to the bus stop and for the first  couple of years, my Mom would lead me over to it. But after that, I would go on my own. But then my folks  built a house that was in my school’s district and over Memorial Day weekend, we left our rental home and  moved into our new house. But after the three-day weekend…it was time for school…and now, I was walking  to school. Still in the same school, same class, with the same people, but I was getting there a whole new way.  It was only a bit over four blocks, but it felt like a great adventure. As I would come to my school, there would  be kids who were getting off the bus and some off the bus that I used to ride. But I was different now…I was no  longer a rider, I was a walker. When God touches our hearts and we give that heart to him, our lives are  different. We are still going to live through life like other folks do. We grow up, go to school, maybe get  married, have a career and all kinds of things that make up life as we know it. But we get there a whole  different way. Because when you give your heart to this Jesus of the Bible, you have not only a savior and  lord…you’ve got a forever friend. You’ve got access to the creator of all the universe 24/7. You have a God  who says that he will be with you always until this earthly experience is over. You have a savior who invites  you, when you are troubled and burdened with trials and weariness and even a sense of lostness, to give those  things over to him and he will give you peace for your soul. While others struggle with guilt from the past all  the way up to the present…you will know forgiveness and the meaning of grace. So, if you are still being  carried along in life by something else…get off that bus. Take the different path. On the surface you’ll like  everyone else, and you’ll go through all the stuff that others face, but you will be different, and the journey of  life will be different and the promise of tomorrow that you carry in your heart will be different. So, get off the  bus…and start walking, and be prepared to have a companion on those walks, one who loves you more than  anyone ever has or ever could. His name is Jesus, and he wants you to know that he is ready to walk with you  today! Here’s our Bible verse for today…
Luke 5:27-28 BSB After this, Jesus went out and saw a tax collector named Levi sitting at the tax booth.  “Follow Me,” He told him, (28) and Levi got up, left everything, and followed Him.
Remember I’m praying for you!
With love, PJ
