Daily Devotional #1,848

In the church that I grew up in there was a man my parents knew who really had a gift of encouraging people. I  knew him and would talk with him every now and then and occasionally he would send me something in the  mail. It would be a card or a note and on the back of the envelope, he would print H.O.T. And then below it he  would write Help Others Today. At the time I thought that it was a bit silly and it was hand printed on anything  he ever sent. But he was a follower of this Jesus of the Bible who lived by that. He really tried to help others as  a part of his following Christ. The older I got, the more that meant to me. And as I read my Bible more, I  realized that he was talking about putting our faith in action. We are called to love one another. So often that is  just seen as a feeling in the heart, but the Bible reminds us that love is action. The Apostle Paul wrote to the  Galatian church that we are to share each other’s burdens. And when we do that, we obey the law of Christ  which is to “Love one another just as he has loved us.” And Paul drove that home by adding that if you think  that you are too important to help someone else, you are just fooling yourself…you aren’t that important! So  that man who left us to be with the Lord many years ago imprinted that verse on my heart with the word HOT.  Simply, help others today. So, remember that you and I are called to obey that law of Christ and the way we  show that is to simply be there to help others in their need, their grief, their troubles, in their weariness and in so  many other ways today. So, pray that you are HOT today and get out there and help others today and make God  look good! Here’s our Bible verse for today…
Galatians 6:2-3 NLT Share each other’s burdens, and in this way obey the law of Christ. (3) If you think you  are too important to help someone, you are only fooling yourself. You are not that important.
Remember I’m praying for you!
With love, PJ
