Daily Devotional #1,849

I remember, as a kid, parking myself in front of the black and white TV and watching one of my favorite  shows… “Superman”. It would start off…” Faster than a speeding bullet. More powerful than a locomotive.  Able to leap tall buildings in a single bound. Look! Up in the sky! It’s a bird. It’s a plane. It’s Superman!” It  was great to see people in situations that they just couldn’t handle, and then Superman would show up and save  the day. It didn’t matter what it was, he was up to the job. They told us that he had powers and abilities far  beyond those of mortal men. He could change the course of mighty rivers, bend steel in his bar hands and was  fighting a never-ending battle for truth, justice and the American way. I loved it…but it was just a 30 minute  TV show. I thought, “Wouldn’t it be wonderful if there really was a superman…who could do the impossible,
right the wrongs of the world and bring truth and justice? And then I met him. It wasn’t George Reeves…the  superman that I watched on that TV. It was a man who the Bible claims was God who came as one of us. He  had a miraculous birth, an earth-shaking ministry…and then died, on a cross. But this superman, well, even  death couldn’t hold him, and he rose again to life on Easter Sunday. And he promised that he would return to  wrap up this earthly experience of humans and bring real truth and real justice to the human story. And his  name is Jesus. He isn’t hidden as a “mild mannered reporter for a great metropolitan newspaper” which caused  you to search and hope for his help. He is just a prayer away through this Holy Spirit that he brings to each  believing heart. And the best news is that he is the real Superman, who will protect you, stand with you in grief,  bring hope to your heart and bring healing to your body and soul. And the best news is that he doesn’t appear  just one day a week…he is there for you and with you each moment of every day. So, when you need him, bow  your head and reach out to the real superman…and this Jesus will meet you with his power and love and  kindness any time, any place. Here’s our Bible verse for today…
2 Thessalonians 3:3 NLT But the Lord is faithful; he will strengthen you and guard you from the evil one.
Remember I’m praying for you!
With love, PJ
