Daily Devotional #1,589

For years I have had a hidden treasure. My Dad was a coin collector and he told me that what I had was  valuable and could only increase in value. I have 20 uncirculated $2 bills that have sequential serial numbers. They have to be over two decades old by now. I took them to a shop that dealt with collectable coins and bills  and had them look at them. They agreed the bills were in perfect condition and to have $2 bills in sequence was  a game changer. I asked what I could expect to get for them and they had indeed increased in price. If I sold  the whole lot, each bill would now be worth…$3.00. To say that I was disappointed would be a huge  understatement! I checked on eBay and sure enough, that’s about what they were going for. I asked why they  were worth so little after so long? The answer…they used to be collectable and valuable. But now…no one  really wants them. They have worth only in the eyes of the one who wants to purchase them for their own  pleasure. I thought about that and couldn’t help but think about my worth…and your worth to God. We are  broken people who do some pretty awful things. But God still loves us. And he values us so much that he sent  his only son to die on a cross for us to pay for our awful sins…just so we could be with him forever. We have  worth…because God has declared it so. And he backed up his claim by purchasing us with the death of his son.  You are somebody to God. And your value will never fade over time. No matter what anyone else thinks of  you, your value to God will never fade. So, look in that mirror today and see what God thinks a precious  human being looks like. You are loved by God. You are somebody. And then…go out and live in a way that  honors this God who loves you so much! Here’s our Bible verse for today…

John 3:16-17 BSB For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that everyone who believes  in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. (17) For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the  world, but to save the world through Him.
Remember I’m praying for you!
With love, PJ
