Daily Devotional #1,591

I do my own laundry. Somewhere along the line, I decided that this wasn’t someone else’s job, because these  were my clothes and I got them dirty. I’m not sure when that started…but I like getting to put my clothes in the  wash as soon as I want rather than wait for someone else to do it. And if I run out of t-shirts or socks…well,  that’s because I didn’t take care of my dirty laundry. But you know what? We also have dirty laundry in our  lives that we need to take care of each day. Every single day…I sin. Yeah…and you know what? You do too!  Now the Bible says that our sins have been paid for, that we are forgiven. So why this repeated confession to  God? When we know we have sinned, our confession allows God to change the way I think about life, my  actions and what God really wants me to be doing. I am not earning forgiveness. I am being set free. When we  confess our sin, it is really a time of celebrating! Not our mistakes and offences. But when I talk about my sin  to God, I can be taken aback again about what he has done for me…and for you…on the cross. Confession is a  way to freedom. Let them go…give them to God. Because if we confess our sins to him he is faithful and just  to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all wickedness. Start and end each day as clean as those clothes you
take out of that dryer. Confess your failings and I’ll confess my failings and we both will feel like that laundry  that is bright and clean and fresh once more. Here’s our Bible verse for today…

1 John 1:9-10 NLT But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse  us from all wickedness. (10) If we claim we have not sinned, we are calling God a liar and showing that his  word has no place in our hearts.
Remember I’m praying for you!
With love, PJ
