Daily Devotional #1,595

I love the coming of summer! I went out to our doughboy pool last night and put in my queen-sized air mattress  and just stared at the beautiful night sky. The weather was just perfect for letting me just float comfortably until  I almost fell asleep! As I lay there, I thought about a night sky that I remember so well. It wasn’t summer, but  it was Christmas night. We would wake up early with our parents and open gifts and Mom and Dad would go  back to bed for a bit while we played with our treasures. And then we would all get ready to head out to my  grandparent’s ranch and all the family would gather there. We had lots of cousins and we got to run around,  check out everything on the ranch and then come in to eat and finally open our last presents together. As it got  dark, folks would start heading back to their homes and we would make the drive that night to our home. I  remember sitting in the back seat of the car with my sister and brother and just looking at the beautiful, star filled night sky. And invariably we three kids would fall asleep. We were traveling out in the country but never  worried about our father getting us home. We would wake up enough to trudge into the house and fall into our  beds…safely at home. We knew Dad loved us and we never doubted for a moment that our father would bring  us safely to the house he and Mom had provided for us. When you have the love relationship with this Jesus of  the Bible, that’s the way life will be for you too. There will be lots of things and events and people that will  make up our lives, but our Heavenly Father will bring those who love him…home. So no matter if your days  seem like wonderful celebrations or they feel tough and long…this Jesus, who paid for our sins, will bring you  safely home to God. Live joyfully and expectantly and sleep peacefully, because you are in good hands. Here’s  our Bible verse for today…
1 Peter 3:18 NLT Christ suffered for our sins once for all time. He never sinned, but he died for sinners to bring  you safely home to God. He suffered physical death, but he was raised to life in the Spirit.
Remember I’m praying for you!
With love, PJ
