It was 81 years ago that young men by the thousands landed in occupied France. They came by air and by sea. Each one of them had left their homes and become warriors and on this day would invade a land that had been captured by an enemy of evil. They won that battle by the willingness to fight and to die to set people free. World War II would go on in Europe for nearly a year before the war was over. But German commanders knew that when the troops landed, they would be defeated. In the same way our world has been occupied by an evil force that had kept us in slavery. And then one came from his home and invaded our world by a virgin giving birth in a stable to a savior, who is Christ the Lord. And later his death on the cross, destroyed him who holds the power of death and opened the door for forgiveness and eternal life. And those who receive his gift of freedom and life join the fight. The battles will go one until this Jesus who died and was raised from the dead brings the final victory over the one who has been the source of all evil and injustice and pain and misery on this earth. The final battles have not been fought, but the devil knows and now we can know that the victory is won. Jesus became one of us, he died for us, he rose for us and he will win and share the triumph with all who have loved and trusted and followed him. The battles will rage, but the war is won. God wins, Jesus reigns. Here’s our Bible verse for today…
Hebrews 2:14-15 BSB Now since the children have flesh and blood, He too shared in their humanity, so that by His death He might destroy him who holds the power of death, that is, the devil, (15) and free those who all their lives were held in slavery by their fear of death.
Remember I’m praying for you!
