Daily Devotional #1,605

God loves to hear from you and invites you and me to ask for things from him. The Bible tells us that we don’t  have because we have not asked! And the good news is that God hears every prayer you ever bring to him and  every request you make. But we have to remember that God is working out his perfect will in our lives and we  will see God do one of three things with our requests. First, he will give you what you want immediately.
Second, you won’t get what you want. And thirdly, he will delay giving you what you want. Now on the  surface we might feel like God is just messing with us. But that is not the character of the God who reveals  himself in the Bible. So, what in the world is God doing? Remember that God won’t give you the good…he  will give you the best for your life. But there is something else that I believe that God is doing. When he gives  you what you want right away…he is testing your spirit of thankfulness. When he doesn’t give you what you  want…well, he is testing your trust in him. And when he delays giving you what you want, he tests your  endurance. So, pray and don’t be afraid to ask but remember always that he will give you what will fit with his  will for your life’s purpose and plan. But know that he doesn’t waste this interaction with you and in each  situation, he will build something special in your heart and soul. When you get your request right away…there  is an opportunity for you to show and grow your gratitude. When you don’t receive what you ask for…you  have the opportunity to show and grow your faith. And when you find yourself waiting on and for God…you  have the opportunity to show and grow your patience. Remember that God loves you more than anyone ever  will or ever can. Trust him and keep praying! Here’s our Bible verses for today…
1 Thessalonians 5:18…Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ  Jesus.
2 Corinthians 5:7…For we live by believing and not by seeing.
Isaiah 40:31…But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength. Thew will soar on wings like eagles.  They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint.
Remember I’m praying for you!
With love, PJ
