Daily Devotional #1,618

I remember as a child that I had a small plaque that had this prayer on it…
Now I lay me down to sleep,
I pray the Lord my soul to keep.
If I die before I wake,
I pray thee Lord my soul to take.
I would look at that prayer each night before I went to bed and pray for God’s protection and should anything  happen, that God would take me to be with him. I’ve prayed with and for a lot of people over the years. And  for me too! But I will never forget that prayer. I’m glad my folks had that up in the bedroom and that I could  pray that and be confident that God was going to take care of me no matter what happens. I have to admit that there are a lot of times that I am fearful or discouraged or just weary. And that prayer is summed up in a  wonderful verse from the Psalms that I repeat a lot. It is Psalms 56:3 and it simply says “But when I am afraid,  I will put my trust in you.” The world can be a jungle out there…but we need to simply put our trust in the God  who promises us that he will be with us, protect us and one day bring us safely home to him if we have received  this Jesus of the Bible as our Lord and Savior. I like that prayer from my childhood and I will never forget it.  But I also am learning to more and more put my trust in God when I am afraid. Take comfort in that old child’s  prayer and the scriptures. God is promising to take care of you today…and all your days in your journey here  on earth. Take a deep breath, relax and remember that God has this. Here’s our Bible verse for today…
But when I am afraid, I will put my trust in you.
(Psalms 56:3 NLT)
Remember I’m praying for you!
With love, PJ
