It was 1994 when I walked into Anaheim Stadium for the first Promise Keeper rally for men in California. It had been nearly 35 years since I had been there. The last time I was standing down on the field, wearing a football uniform for a Junior College football game. I did not become a follower of this Jesus of the Bible until summer after that game. But this time I was a Christian, sitting in the stadium with I think some 50,000 other
men. Some of my guys from church and I came down and we were going to be a part of this great experience. It started Friday night and there were some great speakers and wonderful bands and a whole bunch of guys from every possible walk of life. We were excited and then something happened, and I heard a sound that I had never heard before. We began singing…but it was only the voices of men…thousands and thousands of men singing praise songs to the God that they knew and for some the God they were going to get to know. It was a shock to me because it sounded so different. I love it when women sing, and it is wonderful when men and women sing. But this was new. I remember having the thought that we might experience the same feeling when we get to heaven. Not that it will be just men’s voices, but that it will be something we have not known before. We don’t know a lot about heaven, but the Bible gives us enough for us to realize that it is not Earth 2.0…it is something unlike anything we have had the opportunity to experience in this journey as humans. So, remember that there is something wonderful, different and full of surprises out there…called heaven. And the best part is that the God who has loved you like no other has or can, will be right there. And your heart and voice will want to raise this new song to the one who has redeemed you. Make sure heaven is your destination when the journey here is over. God wants you there, I want you there and you’ll want to be there too! Here’s our Bible verse for today…
Revelation 14:2-3 NLT And I heard a sound from heaven like the roar of mighty ocean waves or the rolling of loud thunder. It was like the sound of many harpists playing together. (3) This great choir sang a wonderful new song in front of the throne of God and before the four living beings and the twenty-four elders. No one could learn this song except the 144,000 who had been redeemed from the earth.
Remember I’m praying for you!
