Daily Devotional #1,626

I woke up the other day and I was sore from a long workout the day before but felt pretty good. I went into the  bathroom and I looked in the mirror and I kind of expected (or hoped!) to see a 30 something guy staring back  at me. I didn’t! I jokingly said to the mirror “How in the world did you get this old?” And it was as if God was  there listening to me because the next thought was…“Because you didn’t die last night.” Now I didn’t take that  in a morbid sense, but rather a “Yeah...I’ve been given another day. And not everybody on the planet got that  gift.” Each day is a gift that God gives to us. Now I’m a firm believer in what the Apostle Paul says about  followers of this Jesus, that to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. And I like that. But I  have another day of being with those I love in my family and in my church and in my country. And I believe  that God has not accidently or capriciously given me a day of life, but that there is purpose and meaning and  value in this day. And I’m a part of it. So if you’re reading this today, well, congratulations. You got the gift of  life for today and God has a purpose for you. I don’t know what it is, but God does…so make sure you go and  ask him what his plans are for you today. That day will come when you see your last sunrise and your last  sunset. But it isn’t today, so go out and see what God is doing and join him there! And don’t forget to thank  him today for his gift! Here’s our Bible verse for today…

Psalms 118:24 NLT This is the day the LORD has made. We will rejoice and be glad in it.
Remember I’m praying for you!
With love, PJ
