Daily Devotional #1,627

There is a wonderful account of an event that took place between Jesus and his disciples as told by the Apostle  Peter. Jesus had sent his disciples off across the Sea of Galilee and told them he would meet them on the other  side. The account says that Jesus was alone still on land and he saw that they were in trouble out there on the  water and were struggling against both the wind and the waves. About three in the morning Jesus goes out to  them walking on the water! He was going to meet them on the other side, but they saw him and the fear of the  wind of and waves gave way to the terror that they were seeing a ghost right by the boat. The account says they were terrified…this was turning to be a bad night all the way around! But Jesus spoke to them and the first  words were “Don’t be afraid”. And then he said “Take courage…I am here”. He got into the boat and the wind  stopped immediately. Remember that Jesus had his eye on his people. He saw their struggle and came to them.  These disciples were tired, scared and probably wondered for a moment how it could get any worse. But Jesus  made it better. All of us are in our boats and every one of us will encounter storms in life. No one gets a free  pass on this. But no matter how weary or how much trouble surrounds you or how scared you are right  now…Jesus has his eye on you. He is not going to let you sink. Don’t get so caught up in your fight that you  don’t recognize that He is actually right there next to you. And if you will listen to him speaking to your heart,  you too will hear him reassuring you… “Don’t be afraid…take courage…I am here.” He sees you, he knows  what you are going through and he will never let you go through this trial alone. Here’s our Bible verse for  today…
Mark 6:48-50 NLT He saw that they were in serious trouble, rowing hard and struggling against the wind and  waves. About three o’clock in the morning Jesus came toward them, walking on the water. He intended to go  past them, (49) but when they saw him walking on the water, they cried out in terror, thinking he was a  ghost. (50) They were all terrified when they saw him. But Jesus spoke to them at once. “Don’t be afraid,” he  said. “Take courage! I am here!”

Remember I’m praying for you!
With love, PJ
