Daily Devotional #1,633

One of the things that I remember about traveling as a kid was that we always had maps. There were no cell  phones, no google and no gps. We had paper maps, and the great thing was that you could get them at any gas  station or if you were a member of AAA you could just go into an office and come out with an armload of  maps. I think being a Boy Scout helped because they were big on maps for any kind of hiking in the back
country and orienting and using them was a part of the training that each kid got. It was exciting to open up one  of the maps of an entire state with all the main roads and highways and then mark out the best route for your  trip. And if you were willing to learn to use the maps and actually did pay attention to what they showed, you  could find your way to just about anywhere. God has done pretty much the same thing for all of us too. He has  given us a map that we can follow to our home in heaven. And it tells us all we need to know about making  that journey. It is called the Bible! It tells us the right way to go and then tells us how to avoid the wrong ways  of living as well. The Psalmist wrote “Your Word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” So, no matter if  your journey right now is bright and sunny or if you are struggling in the night of heavy challenges…God will  light up that path and show you the way to take the next steps through his map…the Bible. So, make sure that  it is handy and remember that a map is no good unless you open it, study it and follow it! Stay in that Bible and  get to know your route for this life and for eternity. And if you get lost along the way…break out God’s map  again and get back on the right road. And if you remember anything about those old maps, you’ll appreciate  that with the old maps you had to struggle to fold them back up when you were done. The Bible…well, you  just close it and it is ready to be opened at a moment’s notice. Get the map…use the map! Here’s our Bible  verse for today…
Psalms 119:103-105 BSB How sweet are Your words to my taste— sweeter than honey in my mouth! (104) I  gain understanding from Your precepts; therefore I hate every false way. (105) Your word is a lamp to my feet  and a light to my path.
Remember I’m praying for you!
With love, PJ
