Daily Devotional #1,636

A buddy of mine and his wife were in church yesterday. They love to sit in the front row and are a delight to  my life! We hugged as they left and I went on to other duties after our worship time. Later that night his wife  and I were standing by his bedside in a hospital emergency room after he had suffered a massive stroke. He  could still talk and he smiled at me when he saw me and said “Hi Joey…” He is one of two people who call me  that in my life. We stayed by his side until almost midnight and just before it was time to leave, I wanted to  read a scripture to him and for his wife…and for me. I turned to the 23rd psalm and we heard God’s promise to  all three of us…
Psalms 23:1-6 NLT The LORD is my shepherd; I have all that I need. (2) He lets me rest in green meadows;  he leads me beside peaceful streams. (3) He renews my strength. He guides me along right paths, bringing  honor to his name. (4) Even when I walk through the darkest valley, I will not be afraid, for you are close  beside me. Your rod and your staff protect and comfort me. (5) You prepare a feast for me in the presence of  my enemies. You honor me by anointing my head with oil. My cup overflows with blessings. (6) Surely your  goodness and unfailing love will pursue me all the days of my life, and I will live in the house of the LORD  forever.
I don’t know what the days ahead hold for my friend and for his loved ones…including me. But I do know that  the Lord is our shepherd…and because of that, we have all that we need. You don’t know what today will hold.
But if the Lord is your shepherd…you will have everything that you need. Just make sure the Lord is your  Sheperd for today and for all your tomorrows. Here’s our Bible verse for today…
Psalms 23
Remember I’m praying for you!
With love, PJ
