I remember when our daughter was young, she loved to run, jump and ride! She always seemed to be moving, and it was wonderful to watch her have fun. The thing was, she had beautiful, long brown hair. And it would get in her face but her Mom would come to the rescue. She would sit our daughter on her lap and braid her hair with three strands and it never came loose! I was always amazed at how that braid held tight and those three strands never came apart. Solomon, who was king over Israel was offered one gift from God to be used to help him rule well over the land. He asked for wisdom, and out of that wisdom we have writings of his that became a part of the Bible. In his Book of Ecclesiastes, Solomon has this one verse that has captured my attention. He said that a person alone can be attacked and defeated, but two can stand back-to-back and conquer. And then he added…three are even better, for a triple-braided cord is not easily broken. It is hard to be alone in life. To have a friend, a partner and especially a husband or wife makes that journey through life so much richer. But friendship can fade, partnerships can get dissolved, and marriages far too often can end up in divorce. I think the key to lasting relationships is that last part…a triple-braided cord is not easily broken. I can’t help but think that God put in Solomon’s mind the truth that there is one that can surround us and like that braided hair, can keep our relationships from coming unraveled. The Bible says that this Jesus is the one who can do that. If you will let him wrap around your relationship you have a triple-braided cord that is not easily broken. So, if you are looking for relationships that will last for a lifetime…weave this Jesus of the Bible into your marriage, your partnerships and into your friendships. Having someone there as a part of your life is a joy. Having them there forever, and enjoying it, is a miracle of God. And it comes by inviting the miracle worker to be woven into the bond you now share. And the promise is that this triple-braided cord is never easily broken. Here’s our Bible verse for today…
Ecclesiastes 4:12 NLT A person standing alone can be attacked and defeated, but two can stand back-to-back and conquer. Three are even better, for a triple-braided cord is not easily broken.
Remember I’m praying for you!
