Daily Devotional #1,640

Ok…stop right there. Look around in the room you are in. Where is the furthest distance in the room and how  far is it? You know what? I can tell you from right where I am the answer to that question. How far is it?  Well, the furthest distance is only about 12 to 14 inches. And where is it? It is the distance from your head to  your heart. You see, we can know all kinds of facts about God. I have talked to people many times who fully  agree with me that there is a God but it makes no impact on their lives. You see you can know all kinds of  information about God and not be his child. You can even know that Bible pretty well…and never know the  author. That 12-14 inches is the distance between heaven and hell. And it is the distance between God’s  goodness and God’s judgment. So, what is it that God wants from us? He wants you to love Him with all your  heart and all your soul and all your mind. In the book of Acts, the Apostle Peter runs into a guy who is  convinced that God is real and that he is powerful. And instead of submitting his will and giving his heart…he  pulls out his check book and says what will all this cost me? And Peter responds clearly… Acts 8:21  NLT “You can have no part in this, for your heart is not right with God.” So the way to cut that distance  between head and heart is to love God. Love him for who he is, for what he has done and for the love that he showed us at the cross. All of that done for you and me so that we could have eternal life with him. Get to  know God, fall in love with God…and then you’ll close the gap we all have between our heads and our hearts.  Here’s our Bible verse for today…
Matthew 22:37 NLT Jesus replied, ‘You must love the LORD your God with all your heart, all your soul, and  all your mind.’
Remember I’m praying for you!
With love, PJ
