Every now and then Google sends some pictures from my past to my email inbox. I never know when or what it will be, and I have no idea how they have gotten hold of all these! The other day I opened the email and there were pictures of an uncle, aunt, a cousin and my Mom from a trip we took to Texas many years ago. Looking at them brought back so many memories. As I was replaying many past scenes of my life, I realized that I am a product of these and so many other wonderful people. Sometimes I forget that so many have shared their love, their faith and most definitely their patience with me. For all of them in the pictures, their journey on this earth is over. But I carry in me and my heart so many pieces of their goodness and wisdom. I was grateful for each one of them and as I looked at the pictures, I thought back to what the Apostle Paul wrote to his associate Timothy. He told Timothy that he remembered his friend’s real and honest faith…but he reminded this young man that that same faith first filled his grandmother and his mom. And he told Timothy that it was the same faith that they had that continued strong in him. I am thankful for all those on whose shoulders I stand. But then I realized that it is my turn to influence the lives and faith of those whom God has placed in my world. Each one of us is indebted to those who have come before us. And now those who share our lives will be shaped by our faith and our actions. I hope that after my journey is done that those, I love so dearly, will be able to keep any that was of this God of the Bible in me and hold on to that. And some day maybe they will look at an old picture of me and hopefully be able to whisper a prayer of thanks for any help they might have received from me that will encourage them to walk faithfully with this Jesus of the Bible. That is a good and noble desire for us all. Here’s our Bible verse for today…
2 Timothy 1:5 NLT I remember your genuine faith, for you share the faith that first filled your grandmother Lois and your mother, Eunice. And I know that same faith continues strong in you.
Remember I’m praying for you!
