I heard about a middle school in Dallas where they were going to hold a “Breakfast with Dad”. It was a special event but they were aware that a number of the kids they were encouraging to come didn’t have fathers in their homes. So they put out the word asking for men to come and sit with these kids and be a Dad for them for this special event. They hoped for 50 men to come and sit with the kids. But they didn’t get that. Instead 600 men
came to be with kids without Dads! In Psalms 68:5 God is described as a father of the fatherless, and a defender of the widows. He cares for those who need that love that has been taken from them or denied to them. But God doesn’t usually attend school breakfasts in person. So what he does is asks for those who have the heart to represent God. The prophet Isaiah was being set apart for God’s special use…in this case as a prophet. And he asks “Whom shall I send? Who will go for us?” And Isaiah responds to his call and says “Here I am. Send me!” God will be in untold places and will stand by untold people this day. But he won’t be there physically. But he will send one who’s heart is ready to hear his voice and go there for the God of the Bible. And guess what? He just might be sending you to be his representative to someone today. You will be the one to stand in the gap for someone lonely, hurting, discouraged or brokenhearted today. That means you need to be prepared mentally and spiritually to answer the call. And then when you hear or feel that call from God’s Spirit…go! And step into that void in another person’s life and fill it with the love and kindness of this Jesus of the Bible. And you might just make a difference not in just a day, but in a lifetime. Here’s our Bible verse for today…
Isaiah 6:8 BSB Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying: “Whom shall I send? Who will go for Us?” And I said: “Here am I. Send me!”
Remember I’m praying for you!
