When trouble comes, what is the first thing you and I do? Well, so often we will try to figure out a solution, make some kind of plan or rally all our resources to bring to the problem before us. And if all our efforts don’t work…well, then we might turn to prayer. That is just the opposite of what God wants us to do. When life takes that nasty turn or we just hit a bump in the road…we need to pray first. Get God involved before you make plans or act. Our family kept watching the East all day as a huge cloud of smoke grew higher and higher over the Sierra Nevada mountains. There was a raging fire that was burning out of control some miles from us. As night came the ugly grey cloud turned red from the raging flames. We drove out into the country to get a better look and as I watched that red tinged cloud thousands of feet in the air I tried to imagine what those firefighters were experiencing through the night and what they would face in the coming day. I felt really powerless that I couldn’t help them…but I know someone who can. And so I prayed. Prayed for safety of those facing the flames, protection for those in the path of the fire and for success in defeating this raging fire. Remember that you are never helpless. You can intercede in any situation…by simply coming to the God for whom nothing is impossible. Never forget what Jesus is quoted as saying in John 4:4…He said, “greater is he that is in you than he that is in the world.” Don’t make prayer your last resort. Make it your first and most passionate response. God promises that he will hear you. So, start praying, keep praying and never quit praying! Here is our Bible verse for today…
God is our refuge and strength, always ready to help in times of trouble. Psalms 46:1
Remember I’m praying for you!
