One of my favorite songs that I love to sing in worship on Sundays is Ryan Stevenson’s “Eye of the Storm”. Part of the lyrics go like this…
“In the eye of the storm, You remain in control
In the middle of the war, You guard my soul
You alone are the anchor, when my sails are torn
Your love surrounds me in the eye of the storm
When my hopes and dreams are far from me, and I'm runnin' out of faith
I see the future I picture slowly fade away
And when the tears of pain and heartache are pouring down my face
I find my peace in Jesus' name”
A couple of guys were looking at two paintings that both were both titled “Peace”. The first one was meadow surrounded by trees. There was a stream running through the meadow and sunlight was filtering through the surrounding forest and deer were quietly feeding on the grass. But the other one was a picture of a seaside cliff. A storm was raging and heavy rain was pouring down on the scene. There was obvious evidence that there was a great wind blowing. The sea below was crashing against rocks and the cliff itself. But down about 10 feet from the top was a little branch that jutted out from the cliff and on it was a small bird, just sitting there quietly with all the chaos going on around it. One of the guys said “This is real peace. The first painting was just a scene with nothing going on. But this one shows the bird in the middle of the storm, quietly holding on to the branch. And that is real peace”. You may be in the middle of a storm right now and are wishing for those quiet meadows. But remember that God is there with you in your storm and he will be with you in all the storms to come. And when the storm comes to your life remember what David wrote in the Psalms: “But when I am afraid, I will put my trust in you.” (Psalms 56:3). He is with you, he will protect you and in the middle of the chaos, he will give you peace for your heart and soul. Here’s our Bible verse for today…
Isaiah 41:10 NLT Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand.
Remember I’m praying for you!
