Daily Devotional #1,662

Well, we had a great car show that took a lot of work and just as soon as it was done, I came down with some  kind of bug. It wasn’t horrible but everyone in my house was adamant that they were not going to catch it. So,  I virtually live here in my study sneezing, sniffling and coughing until I’m declared “well” again. I am getting  better, but I had a meeting scheduled with a key group of people last night and I really wanted to be there. I  was told at home that I was grounded and was not going to be the “Typhoid Mary” of this year. So, I decided I  would go to the meeting…right here in my study. I just called one of my team and they put me on speaker, and  we had our meeting. It did cross my mind as to whether or not I’d be able to recognize everyone just by their  voices. It wasn’t a problem at all. As soon as any of them spoke, I could envision them as we talked and  planned out stuff for our church. Later I got to thinking about that. I knew these people well enough that I  don’t need to see them, I can just listen to their voices and know who they are. Jesus was quoted in the Bible  saying “My sheep know my voice, and I know them. They follow me.” You get to know this Jesus of the Bible  through the Bible and your time in prayer and worship and just keeping quiet and listening to your heart. You  get to know his voice and understand that what you hear or think you hear in your heart must match up to that  Bible, God’s Word. And the awesome thing is that after a while you can recognize his nudges and whispers to  you. And it becomes easy to know when it isn’t him putting thoughts and even feelings into your mind and  spirit. So, get to know him…because you won’t be able to see him now. Don’t worry the promise is that one  day you and every person will get to see him…but for now, spend enough time and share enough experiences  with the Jesus of the Bible and you will recognize his gentle and loving voice that echoes the words and  promises in that Bible out there. And you’ll get to know the difference between his voice and the voice of the one who is determined to turn you away from this one who has loved you more than anyone ever would or  could. Here’s our Bible verse for today…
John 10:27-28 CEV My sheep know my voice, and I know them. They follow me, (28) and I give them  eternal life, so that they will never be lost. No one can snatch them out of my hand.
Remember I’m praying for you!
With love, PJ
