Daily Devotional #1,677

I went to the county fair yesterday to see my granddaughter and other kids from our church compete with the  farm animals they had been raising and training. It was great, but the kids also did all kinds of things that were  displayed in the big Exhibit Hall. I had helped my oldest granddaughter on a model rocket, and I was pretty  proud of the work we had done. I saw so many crafts, foods and artworks that my grandkids and our church  kids had done. So many of them had blue ribbons and I was really excited for them. But I kept looking and  then there above all the other exhibits was our Redstone rocket with the Mercury space capsule that astronaut  Gus Grissiom had flown in the early 60’s. There was another rocket next to ours and it had a blue ribbon, but I  thought ours was a better piece and a wonderful historical model. I looked at the card attached to our rocket  diorama and there was…nothing there! In this entire hall, every object had been awarded something…but ours  was empty and a marker pen had been used to cross out information on the card itself. Now my granddaughter  wasn’t phased by this because she had over 130 items displayed. But this was the one that we had done  together…and it was good…and there was no ribbon, no sticker, no note. Nothing. Other folks said that they  were still giving out awards, but if so the only one they had left was our rocket! I bet all of us have felt like that  at some time. We have poured our hearts into some one or some thing and all we hear in return are the chirping  of crickets! God reminds us that he is a rewarder of those who do good for him and for others. But he says in  his Bible that at the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing…if we don’t give up. Others may not see or  remember what you have done, but God has. Don’t get tired of doing what is good. God says that he knows  and will respond to you. So, if you feel like you are the only one out there not recognized for your work or  sacrifice or love, don’t quit. As a matter of fact, double down and whenever you have the opportunity do good  to everyone, especially to those in your family of faith. God knows and he has his own reward for you and  that’s worth waiting for. Here’s our Bible verse for today…

Galatians 6:9-10 NLT So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest  of blessing if we don’t give up. (10) Therefore, whenever we have the opportunity, we should do good to  everyone—especially to those in the family of faith.
Remember, I’m praying for you today….
