Daily Devotional #1,681

We finished with church yesterday and my grandkids and their parents invited me to have lunch with them at  my favorite place to go…In-N-Out Burger! I told them I’d love it and would meet them there as soon as I  could. When I pulled up to the restaurant, it was packed as usual. The drive through was almost a block long  and I trolled a parking lot next door for a bit before I found a place I could park my car. The inside was filled,  and the cars were lined up to order, but my family had secured a table outdoors. I’m always amazed at the  enthusiasm folks seem to have for this place. It just never seems empty! But it has a great product. One of the  things about In-N-Out is that they are a family owned, unashamedly Christian oriented business. It shows in all  that they do and in the folks who work there. But one of the things that they do is to put scriptures on stuff that  they sell. On their soda cups John 3:16 is printed underneath. The milkshakes have Proverbs 3:5 and the burger  wrappers have Revelation 3:20. The references are just there and anyone who is interested can look them up in  any Bible and they tell some key things God wants folks to know. I thought about all those people who had  come to get some great hamburgers and awesome fries as well as shakes and sodas. They all came because they  wanted something good to satisfy their hunger. And right there with each order is a clue for every person to  satisfy the hunger that every person has in their hearts to know and experience God’s love and forgiveness and  hope for today and beyond this life. The family that owns this business has decided to let folks know their  personal faith and gently giving each person an opportunity to check out the verses and to make their own  decision about this Jesus of the Bible. I like that and it reminds me that I too need to be ready to answer folks  when they ask me about my hope as a believer. And like In-N-Out I’ll do my best to do it in a gentle and  respectful and even creative way. And you get ready…you just never know when a spiritually hungry folk  might just ask you why you live like you have hope too. Here’s our Bible verse for today…
1 Peter 3:15-16 NLT Instead, you must worship Christ as Lord of your life. And if someone asks about your  hope as a believer, always be ready to explain it. (16) But do this in a gentle and respectful way.
Remember, I’m praying for you today….
