A guy is struggling to find a parking space. “Lord,” he prays. “I can’t stand this. If you open a space up for me, I swear I’ll give up spending all my money on sports betting and go to church every Sunday.” Suddenly, he turns the corner and a sunbeam from heaven shines on an empty parking spot. Without hesitation, the man says: “Never mind God, I found one!” I bet all of us have done something like that in one form or another. We have some kind of need or even want and we pray. And not just in a parking lot, but really spend time praying. And that prayer is answered the way we want it to be. But sometimes if we’ve tried to make a trade deal with God…we end up thinking, well, maybe this just happened by chance! Or we give God credit and then soon forget that it was he who brought us this kind of victory in a situation. Prayer is serious business…but it is easy to do and wanted by God. But while we will ask others to join us in prayer for our needs, so often we forget to give God his due when he meets them the way we asked. So pray about everything as the Bible says. But when God answers your prayer with a “yes” don’t forget to give him thanks and to give him credit. When you do that it not only is the right and honorable thing to do before God, but it is a reminder
to us of who it is that brought this about and an encouragement for us to come again and again to the God who loves to hear from us and to bring good things to our lives. Here’s our Bible verse for today…
Psalms 118:21 NLT I thank you for answering my prayer and giving me victory!
Remember, I’m praying for you today….
