Daily Devotional #1,701

We have a tradition where all of us grandparents gather at our shared granddaughters house on Halloween, and  we take about an hour or so and walk with the girls as they trick or treat. It is actually a fun time, and we get to  talk to other parents and people handing out candy and it is a real throwback to a time when people walked  around and talked to their neighbors. We grandparents always end up talking about how we went out as kids  with our bags and our parents would give us some limits as to where we would go, but we went with groups of  our friends and no adult supervision. Last night there were three grandchildren supervised by two parents, three  grandparents and an aunt and uncle! And we were in a gated community!! We talked about how different times  were back then and how we would never think of just turning kids loose at night for a couple of hours going
house to house in the dark now. We have changed…our society has changed. And not for the better. There are  things that we cannot change in our world. We cannot change the course of the moon or the sun, the stars in the  sky and the course they move in. We cannot change the movement and flow of the ocean. But the Bible is  filled with pages of accounts of the lives, purposes, events and habits which have been changed and can be  changed. That’s what a relationship with this Jesus of the Bible does for folks. There is so much in our  universe that cannot be changed, but human nature is one thing that can be changed…but only by the reset of  the mind and soul and body that the Bible calls being “born again” in Christ. So, start the change in this world  by letting God change you and then you letting others that we don’t have to stay the broken people we are.  There is the present and sure potential for new and better through embracing and living the truth about God’s  wonderful grace. Here’s our Bible verse for today…

Colossians 1:6 NLT This same Good News that came to you is going out all over the world. It is bearing fruit  everywhere by changing lives, just as it changed your lives from the day you first heard and understood the  truth about God’s wonderful grace.
Remember I’m praying for you…
