Daily Devotional #1,702

On September 5th, 1977, Voyager 1 was launched into space. It has been traveling at 37,000 miles per hour  every hour for nearly half a century. It is figured that it is about 15 billion, 750 million miles away from us  now. When we look at space and the distances that astronomers say are out there, they are expressed in “light  years.” That is the distance that light would travel in one year. And some of those objects are claimed to be  huge numbers of light years away. Right now, Voyager is about 1/374 of one light year away. That is 170 times  farther away than the sun. At this speed, it will have traveled 1 light year in the year 19,977. Yeah…we are at  2025 right now. That’s another 17, 952 years to get to that 1 light year mark. And there is a whole lot of space  after that. There is a lot to God’s creation, and the Bible says that God has put us tiny humans in charge of  everything he has made and put it under our authority. When you look at that night sky and then imagine the  vastness of the universe you might wonder why in the world would God do that? Why should God even think
about us mere mortals? And on top of that God cares for each one of us. As you walk through this day think  about the fact that God is telling you that you are somebody. And to him, each one of us is somebody special  according to him. So, remember that the God who is calling you to follow this Jesus of the Bible thinks you are  worth his time, his love and the cross that Jesus died on for you and me. If you reject or ignore him…you do  that to the person who thinks the best about you. And if you follow him, you build a relationship with the one  who reminds you again and again that you were worth the death of his son on the cross just so you can spend  eternity with him. Choose God…stay with God…he’s your biggest supporter! Here’s our Bible verse for  today…

Psalms 8:3-6 NLT When I look at the night sky and see the work of your fingers—the moon and the stars you  set in place— (4) what are mere mortals that you should think about them, human beings that you should care  for them? (5) Yet you made them only a little lower than God and crowned them with glory and  honor. (6) You gave them charge of everything you made, putting all things under their authority—
Remember I’m praying for you…
