The story goes that Frederick the great visited a prison in the city of Potsdam. One prisoner after another assured their king that he was innocent and the victim of a framer. Finally one man, however, looked down at the floor and said, "your majesty, I am guilty, and richly deserving punishment." Frederick bellowed for the warden. "Free this rascal and get him out of our prison," he ordered, "before he corrupts all the noble innocent people here." The Bible says that every one falls short of the glory of God. A lot of folks say, “Yeah, but you know, I’m doing pretty well compared to all my family and friends. The problem with that is that you are comparing yourself with the wrong person. It isn’t between you and your family and friends…it’s between you and God. He is the one who sets the standard. It isn’t how you compare with the people around you it is how you compare with the God of the Bible. We aren’t innocent…we have all, everyone of us, fallen short of God’s glorious standard. But there is some great news! God, in his grace, freely makes us right in his sight. He did this through Jesus Christ and what he did on the cross for us. He took the penalty for our sins so that we could be free and forgiven…forever. It’s the best deal any human being is ever going to get…don’t miss out. Because when you have that forgiveness…you have all you need. And that’s something worth giving thanks for! Here’s our Bible verse for today…
Romans 3:23-24 NLT For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard. (24) Yet God, in his grace, freely makes us right in his sight. He did this through Christ Jesus when he freed us from the penalty for our sins.
Remember I’m praying for you…
