Most of us hate to wait. We live in a culture where we want stuff instantly. We chafe at having to stand in line or sit in a drive-through and that microwave just can’t cook that food fast enough. If we were in control of life, probably we’d want things instantly. But we are not in control. We wait and most importantly we wait for God
and on God. I remember as a kid, Christmas couldn’t come fast enough…and I had to wait! For followers of Jesus the time before Christmas is observed as Advent. It means to wait. In the four Sundays before Christmas we remember the wait of all humanity for God’s promised Savior. In the Carol “O Come, O Come Emmanuel” the first verse reminds us of that wait:
“O come, O come, Immanuel,
and ransom captive Israel
that mourns in lonely exile here
until the Son of God appear.”
At the right time Jesus was born in Bethlehem…and Christmas and forgiveness became real to us. No matter what you are waiting on from God, don’t give up. He isn’t asleep, he hasn’t forgotten you. Wait patiently for God, because for Christmas, for you and for our world…our hope is in him. He is your rock and your salvation and a fortress for your life and soul. Trust him…he is worth the wait. Here’s our Bible verse for today…
Psalms 62:5-7 NLT Let all that I am wait quietly before God, for my hope is in him. (6) He alone is my rock and my salvation, my fortress where I will not be shaken. (7) My victory and honor come from God alone. He is my refuge, a rock where no enemy can reach me.
Remember I’m praying for you…
