I didn’t try and certainly didn’t mean to…but I found a treasure! I send out trivia questions to friends regularly and they get a chance to test their knowledge of all kinds of things. I have a whole set of Christmas trivia cards that I keep in the closet of my study. So, with Christmas being close, I started looking for them in the plastic bins stacked up in there. I went through the first one and didn’t find them, but I found things I hadn’t remembered I had hidden in there. It was a hoot. I went to the next box and there was the box of trivia questions, but also there was a box of mementos that my dad had brought home from WW II. I took a look and set them aside and found pictures and keepsakes and then I found my lost medal I got for my induction into the athletic Hall of Fame. I hadn’t seen that for 10 years. And then I found a whole bag full of gift cards that for some reason I had put in storage. Some of the places have actually gone out of business but there were a number of them that I can still use! I went from box to box and was flooded with all kinds of memories of people and events. I thought about how that treasure was less than 10 feet away from me every single day I go to work in that study…and I had no real idea what was in there. Jesus said that the Kingdom of God was like a treasure that a man discovered in a field. And he was so excited about it that he put it back and sold everything he had to get enough money to buy that field. The Kingdom of God is the big prize, but I wonder how many other things God has out there for you and me to yet discover? Things that we have forgotten or had given up
hope for. And yet God has kept these treasures right close to us. There are godly promises and dreams that are right there waiting to be revealed…when the time is right. So, remember that every day is an adventure with God. Because you never know what wonders, answers or blessings he will bring…maybe today. Keep your eyes and hearts open and discover the treasures of heaven that are there for you to have and to hold right now! Here is our Bible verse for today…
