I ran across a story about glorifying God. Many years ago, a pastor in Glasgow, Scotland named George McLeod chanced to look up at the stained-glass windows at the front of the church. The phrase, "Glory to God in the highest" was carved in the glass. As he looked, he noticed that a pane of glass was broken and missing, the pane on which the letter "e" in the word "highest" was carved. Suddenly he found himself seeing the words now say, "Glory to God in the High St." High Street was a nearby avenue. It struck McLeod that the only way to glorify God IS to glorify him in the High St. The only way to truly glorify God is to glorify him where we live, work and play. We don’t glorify God by coming to church once a week…but by living for him and letting him live through us during the week. Each day is filled with opportunities to show how good God is to the world you live in. How do you know if you are glorifying God…and not just showing off? Well, there are three questions that the Bible has for us in 1 Corinthians chapter 10. Ask these three questions as you make choices about what you will say or do:
Can I thank God while I’m doing it?
Can God be honored by my doing it?
Can I cause another believer to stumble in their faith by doing it?
If you can say “yes” to the first two and “no” to the last one, then you are in a position to glorify God right where you are at that time in this day. Go out there and show the world what a great God we have by the life you live! Here’s our Bible verse for today…
1 Corinthians 10:31 NLT So whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.
Remember I’m praying for you…
