Daily Devotional #1,746

I have been working on three different model airplanes on my build table and I’m almost done with all three of  them. The painting is done; the final gluing is just about finished and now all I have to do is to put on the decal  markings of all three military aircraft and I can let them “fly” above me in my study. I have a model of a jet that  just needs for me to put the clear canopy over the pilot, and it is ready to go…and I cannot find the canopy! I  had it on my table for weeks and when I went to glue this final piece on, it just disappeared. The problem with  the canopy missing…is that the model cannot ever be complete. There is no point in showing it…it is missing  that piece that makes it a model of the real thing. I got to thinking about that. I have all the pieces, glued,  painted and in place…but without this, it is nothing. The Apostle Paul wrote about this (not his hobby  collection) by saying that if we had the gift of prophecy and if we understood all of God’s secret plans and if we  had all knowledge there was to have and on top of that had such powerful faith that you could actually move a  mountain…you might look like hot stuff. But if you didn’t love others…you would be nothing. Imagine  having all those powerful gifts that could change all kinds of things…but without love…you are nothing. God  loves you and me, and he tells us to love each other. As a matter of fact, he said that by the love that we show  each other, we prove that we really are his children. He told us that love is from him, and the one who loves is a  child of God and knows God. But the one who does not love doesn’t know God…for God is love. And when  we look at the cross, we see how much God has loved us, so we surely ought to love each other. Love is an act  fueled by the power and presence of God’s love in us. And then it is a choice. Go and be loved by the God of  the Bible…experience forgiveness, mercy, companionship, protection and so much more. And when your “love  tank” is filled, then go out and love those around you. And then you will move from nothing to everything…all  through love. Here’s our Bible verse for today…

1 Corinthians 13:2 NLT If I had the gift of prophecy, and if I understood all of God’s secret plans and possessed  all knowledge, and if I had such faith that I could move mountains, but didn’t love others, I would be nothing.
Remember I’m praying for you…
