Daily Devotional #1,759

My Uncle Bill was a Navy officer. He served at sea for a period and then was transferred to London, England  for duty there. I was a kid at the time and while he was stationed there, he sent me this wonderful picture book  all about London. I read it and reread it until it came apart. But one part of that book has stayed with me since  childhood. It had a section about Christopher Wren. He was a great architect and builder and he constructed
many great churches and buildings in London that still exist today. When he died, he was buried in one of the  magnificent churches he had designed and built. His son had a marble stone placed over the tomb of his father  and on it, it said “If you seek his monument, look about you.” And he was right, all throughout that great city  are evidences of his heart and mind and work. The same could be said for each one of us too. Not that we are
building great edifices that will stand for decades. The monuments that we leave behind are the lives of the  people our life has touched. When we leave this planet, and we will leave, who we are and what we have done  are left in the hearts of men and women and perhaps even in those that they touch too. The Apostle Paul wrote  to his young associate, Timothy and reminded him that his faith in this Jesus of the Bible was first seen in his  grandmother and then in his mother…and now in him. And this Timothy’s life had an impact on innumerable  people for the sake of the God he loved. So as you walk through each day, remember that you will leave your  mark, for good or not so good. And like was said of Christopher Wren, if we want to see what your real  monument is for Christ and his Kingdom…we will just look around for the people your life touched. Go out  and live well…and make this life you live count for all eternity. And by the way, Happy Birthday Uncle  Bill…Here’s our Bible verse for today…
2 Timothy 1:5 NLT I remember your genuine faith, for you share the faith that first filled your grandmother  Lois and your mother, Eunice. And I know that same faith continues strong in you.
Remember I’m praying for you…
