Daily Devotional #1,771

I love In-N-Out burgers! For Christmas I actually got some gift cards for In-N-Out and love using them. I  finished a service at a cemetery the other day and realized that I had not eaten so I headed over to a close by In N-Out. I ordered just what I wanted and made sure that the counter man had gotten it right and brought out my  gift card and swiped it. The card reader hesitated and said, “Couldn’t read card”. Well, it didn’t say I didn’t  have money on it, and I knew that because it had never been used. I swiped it again and the same thing  happened. The counter man asked if he could try and I handed it to him and he simply laid the card down on  the counter and said, “I’m afraid that your card won’t work here.” I asked, “What’s wrong with it?” He smiled  just a bit and said sweetly “It’s for McDonald’s…” I looked down and there were the golden arches on the card  and so I pulled out the right one and it worked just fine. As I waited for my order, I thought about that silly  mistake. No matter how many times I would have tried to use that card and no matter how much money was on  that card…it wouldn’t work…it was the wrong card. We do wrong things in our journey on this earth but a lot  of times we think that we are doing just fine, thank you! But if we look at what God says in his Bible, we can  get a different answer. The Bible says of itself “All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what  is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives.” And it assures us that it will correct us when we are  wrong and if we are open to it, it will teach us to do what is right. Sometimes we are wrong. That happens in  our world, even to good and godly people. And that’s why reading that Bible is important, because it helps to  correct not only our actions, but our beliefs and our attitudes. So, remember, you may think all is well and you  are leading the pack in doing all the right things. But that might not be true. See what God has to say about life  and love and living. You may find yourself just sighing when you see that you are mistaken. Listen to what is
right and go out there and do it. You are going to make mistakes. God knows it and you need to accept it. See  it, acknowledge it and choose to live, do or say what God calls you and me to do. Here’s our Bible verse for  today…
2 Timothy 3:16 NLT All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us  realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right.
Remember I’m praying for you…
