I was with some folks that I love yesterday and saw lots of tears over the death of a wonderful man that we all loved. All of us have done that. We have had tears of sorrow, anger, relief and even joy. But mostly it is tears of grief. In Psalm 56 we are told that God keeps track of all our sorrows. That he knows when our hearts are
broken and those tears are precious to him and he keeps them in a bottle. But why would he keep them? Maybe it is to remind us that his heart is broken with ours and that nothing that touches our hearts and brings us pain is missed or dismissed by this God who loves us so much. I read someone else’s take on this though. They went all the way from the Psalms to the last book of the Bible, Revelation. And almost at the end of the last book, it says that when this journey of humanity is over and there is a new heaven and new earth that we will have a new intimacy with God. And in that moment (Revelation 21:4 NLT) “He will wipe every tear from their eyes, and there will be no more death or sorrow or crying or pain. All these things are gone forever.” And maybe part of that wiping away the tears will be those that he has collected from us all during our personal journey of life here on earth. I’m not sure if that’s it, but I do know that God knows your tears that you shed today, and he has kept them with the ones from all your days before. And he will be there with you, comforting you when they come again. And he will remind you of a place that you have never been that is called home…and there we will have no more death, sorrow crying or pain. Those will be gone forever. Until then, he will hold you close to his heart and whisper to you that he does indeed have a great big, beautiful tomorrow for you. Here’s our Bible verse for today…
(Psalms 56:8 NLT) You keep track of all my sorrows. You have collected all my tears in your bottle. You have recorded each one in your book.
Remember I’m praying for you…
