Daily Devotional #1,779

I read something the other day that struck me. It said “The road to heaven feels like Hell. The road to Hell  feels like heaven.” I don’t know that I feel that way…maybe some of the time. But remember that Jesus said  that you can enter God’s kingdom only through the narrow gate…but the highway to hell is broad and its gate is  wide for the many who choose that way. And then he said that the gateway to life is very narrow and the road is  difficult and only a few ever find it. Well, it sounds pretty close to what our author wrote. So why would the  road to God’s kingdom be hard? Well, we are to live by faith…that can be hard. And we are to live a life that is  different from the world. That’s what the word “Church” means in the Greek…the called-out ones. It means  that we are no longer playing God…but we turn from our personal selfish desires and submit to God’s will for  us. And the path that Jesus talks about will have a lot of challenges that are both inside us and out in our  physical world. On the other hand, the way to hell is broad and the gate is wide open for anyone who decides to  take that path. Pretty darn easy traveling. It isn’t easy to follow this Jesus of the Bible in our daily lives all the  time. And he knows that. That’s why he says that the gateway to life and heaven is pretty narrow and the road  isn’t easy. And the hard truth is that the commitment required to follow this path is not chosen by many. But  we all get to choose and we live forever with whatever choice we make. Yeah, that road to the Kingdom of God  involves repentance and self-denial. But the promise of God is that it is worth it. Worth it…you can bet your  life on it. Because that’s what you and I are doing! Here’s our Bible verse for today…
Matthew 7:13-14 NLT “You can enter God’s Kingdom only through the narrow gate. The highway to hell is  broad, and its gate is wide for the many who choose that way. (14) But the gateway to life is very narrow and  the road is difficult, and only a few ever find it.
Remember I’m praying for you…
