Daily Devotional #1,786

We were dealing with how to handle some maintenance issues at church, and I reached out to some of my  buddies. We were going to have an impromptu lunch, but one guy couldn’t come and the other two had been  working and left the church campus. That left just me and my friend, so we decided to go to a local eatery and  talk it over ourselves. This place is not large, and it is one of those wonderful places where they remember you.  My buddy and I were given a choice of a couple of tables, so we were focused on them and decided on one  close to a bar where they served meals as well. We sat down and our conversation was about how we were  going to get together to sort out what we were going to do. Not five minutes after sitting down, I got a call from  one of the other two guys and he explained that they had taken care of the first pressing issue. That was good  news, but my new phone was creating an echo that now posed another problem. Then my partner poked me and  there sitting at the bar behind us were our other two team members. They were just ten feet away from us,  eating at the bar, with their backs to us. We kept talking on the phone and I got up and just stood next to them  and finally they slowly turned around and kind of ragged on me for sneaking up on them. Neither of us knew  we were all headed to the same place. We had a good laugh, a great short meeting and I thought about how this  is much like how God is for his followers. God is always there…really close to us…and hears every prayer.  The Bible says that the Lord is close to all who call on him. Just like those guys were just 10 feet away from us  on that phone call, God is right there. We won’t necessarily see him, but he promises that he’ll be there. And  the good news is that the Bible tells us that when we are praying within his will…he grants the desires of those  who fear him, and he hears our cries for help and rescues us. So, remember you won’t get to see God, but his  promise in his Bible is that he’ll be right there, listening and ready to answer our prayers and granting them  according to his will. Never forget that God is never farther than a prayer away from you…don’t be shy or  hesitate…call out to him. He’s waiting to hear from you and me! Here’s our Bible verse for today…
Psalms 145:18-19 NLT The LORD is close to all who call on him, yes, to all who call on him in  truth. (19) He grants the desires of those who fear him; he hears their cries for help and rescues them.
Remember I’m praying for you…
