I hear a lot of followers of this Jesus of the Bible say that they are seeking the will of God. There are three things that we are told in the Bible that are God’s will for everyone who belongs to Christ Jesus. We are
commanded to always be joyful, to never stop praying and to be thankful in all circumstances. First we are always to be joyful. We need to be careful here because it is not saying that you are going to have to find a way to be happy no matter what is taking place. The way the Bible describes it, joy allows us to rise above the changing circumstances that we will find ourselves in from day to day. Circumstances will plunge us into defeated lows or send us soaring to exciting, but temporary highs. This joy comes from that daily living relationship with this Jesus. There is a joy that is always there when we focus on him and what he has done. And the fact that he reminds us that with us humans there are so many things that are impossible, but not so with God. With God everything is possible. Then we are to never stop praying. That doesn’t mean that you have to keep your eyes closed all day long as you pray to God. Rather this is an action but also an attitude towards God. We pray for all kinds of things and we should. But we need to pray for a trusting dependence on God, realizing that he actually resides inside each believer in this Jesus of the Bible and then to determine to obey him with heart, mind and soul. And prayer should become something that we naturally do all day long. And then the last thing that the Apostle Paul said was part of God’s will was to be thankful in all circumstances. Not all circumstances are good or easy or wanted. But God promises to be present with us and let our thankfulness be the key to strengthening our character and build our faith. We need to give thanks for blessings…but also to give thanks for blessings that comes to us in disguise. The most difficult of all is to give thanks no matter what has happened. The only way that we can do that is if we trust God completely. We need to trust that God really is in complete control and is working out his perfect will. So what is God’s will for you today? To always be joyful, to never stop praying and to be thankful in all circumstances. Do these things today and you’ll be right in the middle of God’s will for you. Here’s our Bible verse for today…
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 NLT Always be joyful. (17) Never stop praying. (18) Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.
Remember I’m praying for you…
