My friend Randy died a couple of days ago. He wasn’t supposed to. He was recovering from a cancer surgery that removed it all and then he was to undergo some chemotherapy to make sure there wasn’t anything left in the system. He actually got to come home for a bit but was having some issues that brought him back into the hospital. They took care of that and the day before he died, they found and took care of a bleeding ulcer that they thought had been causing some complications. That last day when he got back to his room, we talked, read a scripture that we both loved and then we prayed. And I told him that I would see him the next day. The next morning everything went south and it was just over. He was a part of our church leadership team for nearly two decades and he was my friend. He leaves behind a wonderful wife and family that loved him so very much. And a whole church and community that respected and cared for him. That last verse that we shared was from Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, to give you a future and a hope.” My friend knew, served and loved this God of the Bible and he and I both knew that God would work out his plans for a future and a hope now and beyond this journey that we share on this earth. Randy was committed in love and life and service to this Jesus of the Bible and in that moment when life was over here, he and I both believed that to be absent from this body is to be present with the Lord…for those who loved him. Jesus said about that time when our journey here is over and we stand before God and the words we long to hear are “Well done, good and faithful servant! Enter into the joy of your master.” I told my friend the day before that I would see him again…and I will. Make sure that you are ready for that last breath on this earth, because at that moment the only thing that will be important is that relationship you have or didn’t have with this Jesus of the Bible. Remember he is always only a prayer away…Here’s our Bible verse for today…
Matthew 25:21 BSB His master replied, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Enter into the joy of your master!’
Remember I’m praying for you…
