Daily Devotional #1,815

Palm Sunday is a great day and it is the reminder of the beginning of Easter week when Jesus made his journey  on the back of a small donkey into Jerusalem surrounded by cheering and celebrating crowds. They worshiped  him as God’s Messiah, as the Son of the God of the Bible. The religious leaders were outraged and offended  that the people would actually worship Jesus as he road into town. And they were furious with Jesus that he  accepted it. They demanded that Jesus make all those multitudes quit honoring him that festive day. Jesus told  them “If these people kept quiet, the stones along the road would burst into cheers!” I like that. But it is a  reminder that we humans are wired to worship. And all of us are worshipers of something. We may not admit  it, but there is something that we give our allegiance and devotion to. I remember that my brother took me to  the last 49er game played at the venerable Candlestick Park. That was the home of all the games that led to  their series of Super Bowl wins. And during that last game, which they won, we cheered and celebrated and if  there had been palm trees we probably would have cut down branches and waved them to the players on the  field. It isn’t a matter of whether you are a worshiper or not. It is a matter of who or what will you worship.  When you get to know this Jesus of the Bible, you will want to celebrate him too, and not only on Sundays! So,  celebrate this one who is declared Lord and Savior and loves you more than anyone ever will or ever could.  Don’t miss the chance to worship him, especially this Easter season…and don’t let the stones along the road  beat you to it. He’s worth getting to know and in knowing him you find he is worth your worship. Here’s our  Bible verse for today…
Luke 19:38-40 NLT “Blessings on the King who comes in the name of the LORD! Peace in heaven, and glory  in highest heaven!” (39) But some of the Pharisees among the crowd said, “Teacher, rebuke your followers for  saying things like that!” (40) He replied, “If they kept quiet, the stones along the road would burst into  cheers!”
Remember I’m praying for you…
