Daily Devotional #1,818

On June 6th 1944, Allied forces attacked the European continent by air and by sea in the greatest invasion  anyone had ever seen…it was called D-Day. On one of the beaches was a 57-year-old Brigadier General named  Theodore Roosevelt, the son of the famous Rough Rider charge and president of the United States. He  struggled with arthritis so he brought his cane with him as he jumped into the water from the landing craft at  Utah Beach. He wanted to be with the men he had trained and served with and believed that the young men  would think that this couldn’t be too terrible if they let a general land with them. When Roosevelt landed, he  stood on the beach, out in the open with a map in hand looking at the terrain and realized they had dropped him  and this landing force in the wrong spot! The problem was that if they stayed, all the reinforcements and  supplies might land at the right spot and leave him and all the troops abandoned to fight it out. He alone had to
make a decision to either have boats come and pick them up and move them or stay and fight. He turned to his  subordinates and told them “Gentlemen, we are going to start the war from right here. Move inland!” And it  worked. There are times in our lives when we feel like we are in the wrong place or we are cut off in some way  from those things and people that could or have supported us. When it seems like circumstances and even  people don’t seem to be supporting you or working in your favor, remember that God is with you. He told his  people Israel and you and me to not be discouraged or afraid of the future. That God himself will personally go  ahead of you, and he will be with you. And the promise is that he will neither fail you nor abandon you. Like  on that day so many years ago, you listen to God, who is in command, and he will tell you “We will start the  war from right here. Start moving forward.” And when you are afraid, put your trust in him (Psalm 56:3).  Here’s our Bible verse for today…
Deuteronomy 31:8 NLT Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the LORD will personally go ahead of you. He  will be with you; he will neither fail you nor abandon you.”
Remember I’m praying for you…
